Biography

Andrea, owner of Sweet Olive Salon, has dedicated over 20 years to the hairstyling profession in New Orleans. In 2017, Andrea and her husband, Richard, opened Sweet Olive Salon, realizing her vision of a welcoming, sustainable, and client-centered space.

Andrea is committed to continuous education, attending advanced training and industry seminars to stay current with the latest techniques, trends, and eco-friendly practices. This dedication means her clients always receive the highest quality service—whether they seek a timeless cut, a creative color transformation, or a fresh look uniquely tailored to their style.

Known for her big heart, Andrea’s clients appreciate her warm and welcoming approach. She takes the time to understand each individual’s needs, creating a salon experience that goes beyond hair styling. In her chair, clients feel truly seen and heard, leaving Sweet Olive Salon feeling confident, beautiful, and valued.

McKenzie Zeigler

Biography

From the young age of 17, McKenzie knew she wanted to be a hairstylist. After eagerly completing high school, she moved to New York City in 2005 to attend the Aveda Institute in Manhattan, where she earned a degree in esthiology and cosmetology. She then accepted an apprenticeship as a colorist at Cutler Salon in SoHo. Following rigorous training, McKenzie pursued another passion—makeup artistry—by completing an extensive course at the Make-up Designory. However, she has since stepped away from makeup artistry, a decision shaped by the pandemic.

McKenzie moved to New Orleans in 2011 and specializes in color as well as straight razor cutting, with a loyal following of curly-haired clients. She believes every cut and color should be customized for the individual. With over 15 years of experience, one child at home, and another on the way, her passion for the industry remains strong, and she embraces every opportunity to deepen her craft.

Jo Morris

Biography

Jo’s professional career began with the opening of Sweet Olive Salon in 2017. Initially drawn to hair cutting, her expertise has since expanded to include a variety of color services. She specializes in lived-in, natural looks, including balayage, grey-blending, and the occasional supernatural color. Jo approaches hair cutting as a personal expression, taking into account factors like gender identity and lifestyle to create a look that truly reflects each individual. Every service, even for returning clients, begins with a consultation, and she welcomes anyone to reach out before an appointment to discuss specific needs. Jo is also an excellent email communicator: josweetolive@gmail.com.

For those who prefer a quiet, chitchat-free experience, Jo is more than happy to accommodate, and she encourages you to reach out ahead of time to ensure your comfort. Alternatively, if you’re in the mood to chat about cats, Jo is more than equipped to engage in feline discourse for the entire appointment.

Outside of the salon, Jo is a musician with a style that blends dreampop and folk-grunge, with a touch of Patsy Cline.

Biography

Lan Nguyen honed her craft at Stardust Salon in the heart of the Lower Garden District. After nine years at Stardust, she embraced an incredible opportunity to deepen her expertise through an esteemed apprenticeship at Bumble & Bumble in New York City. Over the next two years, she immersed herself in advanced training, followed by three years working as a stylist in New York, where she refined her distinctive style and approach. Returning to her hometown of New Orleans, Lan joined Rocket Science, just steps from the French Quarter, where she continued to shape her career for four years. Today, Lan has found her salon home at Sweet Olive in Mid-City, where she proudly serves her clients with passion and skill.

“As a hair stylist, my priority is to truly listen to you. Whether you know exactly what you're looking for or only have a vague idea, I'm here to understand and bring your vision to life. I see it as my role to interpret not only what you say but also what you might not be able to put into words.
